Our Mission:
Building Twentyone empowers teens to discover passion and purpose by providing a safe, engaging space where they can grow in leadership, life skills and community connection before the age of 21.
Our Vision:
To be the most trusted and transformative space for youth in mid-Michigan — where teens not only belong but lead, thrive and shape the future of their communities.
Our Philosophy:
At Building Twentyone, we believe the habits that shape a lifetime are built before the age of 21. That’s why we’ve created a youth-driven center where trust is cultivated; hope is ignited; and character, influence and potential are intentionally developed — one experience, one relationship, one day at a time. Because in just 21 days, a habit can form — but in the right environment, a future can be transformed.
Our Target:
We serve middle and high school students — grades 6 through 12 — from across the Greater Lansing area who are open to growth, eager for connection and ready to explore their potential in a safe, supportive and youth-driven space. Our teens come from diverse backgrounds but share a desire to belong, be seen and become who they’re meant to be.
Our Process:
At Building Twentyone, we don’t just run programs — we shape pathways for teens to thrive. Our approach is grounded in the principles of Positive Youth Development, a proven framework that nurtures the whole person —socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually. Rather than focusing on what youth are lacking, we focus on what they’re capable of becoming. Every activity, mentorship moment and experience is designed to help students gain confidence, build character and develop real-world skills — preparing them not just for high school, but for life. Through hands-on learning, supportive relationships and meaningful leadership opportunities, we empower teens to meet the challenges of adolescence and step into adulthood with purpose.
