At Building Twentyone, we are fighting the winter blues by providing opportunities to gather.
On the second Friday of every month, we host a FREE event called Friday Night Live for 6th-12th grade students in Mid-Michigan. With different themes and activities each month, we have recently hosted a Christmas Vacation themed night, as well as Board Games & Nerf Wars! These nights happen from 7-10pm right in our building. There is no registration or membership needed. You can just show up!
We have also continued our after school open space on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, and Thursday’s from 2:30-6pm. These are some of our favorite days because we really get to know our members! In case you were wondering, yes – you do have to be a member to come to our after school open space. However, we keep it low cost at a one-time payment of just $49 for the school year! We also have scholarships available as we know finances can be difficult. We want to remove any hurdle for your student to attend! As part of our after school open space, we have initiated a new incentive time called Focus 30. Every Tuesday, our students have the choice to participate in 30 minutes of intentional time working on homework, studying for an upcoming test or exam, or simply doing something productive. We turn off all electronics for every student, so even the ones who don’t participate have at least 30 minutes without screens where they can choose to play soccer, board games, etc. instead of video games. If your student chooses to participate in Focus 30, we set a goal with them at the beginning of the semester. If they meet their goal at the end of the semester, we celebrate by doing something fun. This semester, we decided to feed all of them pizza and take them to High Caliber!

We are so grateful that we get to empower teens to discover passion and purpose by providing a safe, engaging space where they can grow in leadership, life skills and community connection before the age of 21. We are also grateful to have a new ninja gym where kids, adults, and whole family units can come run around and have fun while reaping the benefits of all ninja has to offer.
