On Thursday, January 28, 2016, the staff members from Building Twentyone and members of our Teen Advisory Council travelled to Ann Arbor, MI to visit the teen center Neutral Zone. There we were able to receive a tour of their space, which includes multiple meeting areas for programs, a kitchen, a concert venue, and a recording studio. We were able to learn about the programs that they offer (more than 20 in the areas of visual arts, literary arts, music, education and leadership!), as well as gain some ideas for what we hope to accomplish at Building Twentyone in the future.
Neutral Zone’s Director of Strategic Initiatives, John Weiss, led an interactive brainstorming with our group to formulate ideas about what we hope to see Building Twentyone develop into and steps we can take to achieve our goals! We are committed to offering programs and events that students are interested and engaged in, and to support our mission of helping students find their passions and purpose! We hope to continue learning from successful teen centers in Michigan as we continue to grow here at Building Twentyone!
