What’s Happening at Building 21?

With Thanksgiving approaching next week, we recognize there is so much to be thankful for.

There have been some great things happening at Building Twentyone that we are so thankful for and that we want to clue you in on.

 

So, what has Building Twentyone been up to?

First, we had an art program centered around making paper mosaics. Our students thoroughly enjoyed this program as it was a great time to design their own beautiful art piece! It made even the beginner feel like an artist. We then had Sunset Clay Studio come in and teach a two-week clay program! Our students were able to design their own clay pieces without having to go into a studio! We also had Good Vibes Art come in and lead us in a program where students were able to journal what’s on their hearts. This was a great way to pair heart with art as each student received their own journal and were able to express their emotions on paper through painting, drawing, and other forms of art.

 

What else have we been up to besides programs?

We introduced Friday Night Live’s at the beginning of June. We began with an End of the School Year party in June to celebrate our students last days of school! Throughout the past few months, we’ve also had a Kahoot! night, a field day, a fifth quarter party, a trivia night, and more! We started Friday Night Live events on the second Friday of every month to provide an extra way for students to hangout with their friends in a fun and safe environment. We recognize sometimes students do not know what to do with their free time on the weekends. We love that we have the space for students to hangout with their friends, make new friends, and maybe try something new. These nights are designed to engage teenagers and bring them together. These events are a time to hangout and relax so our art room is also open every FNL for students throughout the night for those who may not want to participate in whatever activity we have going on at the time.

 

What do we have coming up?

We have our Cookies + Canvas event coming up on December 6th from 4-6:00pm! Sign up’s are open! Just go to our program page and buy your ticket. If you are a member, you should have had the coupon code that takes $5 off your ticket price e-mailed to you! Also coming up is our next Friday Night Live which will be on December 9th from 7-10pm right here at Building Twentyone! We are celebrating Christmas in style with an ugly sweater contest, karaoke, Christmas cookie decorating, ornament making, and more! We are also serving our community by sorting through letters to Santa to be passed along for others to respond to! This is a great way to give back to our community. This will take place on Monday’s starting November 28th through Christmas.
